This page lists author events that British Publishers has helped to arrange. Each entry gives the date, the place and who the event was for, so you can see what actually happened rather than take our word for it.
We add an event only after the author, and anyone pictured, has agreed. That keeps the list accurate, even if it keeps it short.

Echoes from Australia: London Book Launch
Last updated 27 October 2026
On Tuesday 13 October 2026, guests gathered at a hotel meeting suite in Shoreditch, London, for the launch of Echoes from Australia by Peter Ridgley, published by British Publishers.
Peter wrote this memoir over decades in the back of his London taxi. It follows a boy from Hackney who grew up under the Blitz, went to sea with the Royal Navy, tried a new life in Australia as a Ten Pound Pom, and came home to drive a black cab through London. He died in September 2017 and did not see it published.
The evening was hosted by Lucy Norris and opened by Muhammad Ruhaid, Director of British Publishers, who joined by live video call. The host spoke with Cintia Weston, Peter's widow, who brought the book into print, about the love story, the Hackney years, the echoes from Australia and the long road to publication. Passages from the manuscript were read aloud. Cintia closed the evening by reading the final footnote of the book, which records that she and Peter stayed together for twenty-two years, until his death.
Copies were signed on the night. Authors published by British Publishers were among the guests, alongside Peter's family and friends.
British Publishers arranged for the evening. Echoes from Australia is available in paperback from leading online bookstores.
Echoes from Australia was launched in London on 13 October 2026, thirty-two years to the day after Peter Ridgley first arrived at Bucharest airport and met the woman who would become his wife.
On the night, Cintia Weston signed copies of the book in the room where the launch had taken place. Peter spent decades writing this memoir in the back of his taxi and did not see it in print, so each copy signed that evening carries Cintia's signature, not his.
